Several female actresses have begun to diversify both their roles and the ways in which celebrities are experienced, the latter being mainly attributable to social media and direct contact with their fans. Drawing on the work of Tasker, who argues that the female performer is repeatedly framed within an opposition between her body as spectacle and her work as an actor, the chapter discusses how the audience understands Greta Scarano both in terms of star image and of the different roles she interprets. It focuses on the analysis of two aspects: her ability to cover different roles across television and cinema, and thus avoid being stereotyped; and the way in which she conveys the image of herself as an Italian celebrity, also participating in relevant causes, on her Instagram profile.
