Tourist’s Satisfaction and Sustainable Cities: Case Study of Udaipur City, India

The study focuses on measuring the satisfaction levels of tourists visiting Udaipur city, as tourism is a crucial factor for the sustainability of the city. The research is to assess the level of enjoyment that visitors experience and to determine the crucial components that affect both the sustainability of the region’s tourism business and the overall visitor experience. To this end, 278 respondents were interviewed based on ten satisfaction criteria. Along with the city's natural and cultural attractions, the study examines several aspects of Udaipur’s tourism infrastructure, such as accommodation, standard amenities, security, regional cuisine, and transit options. Structured interviews have been conducted at the selected tourist spots of the city, based on the Department of Tourism, Rajasthan. The data gathered was then statistically evaluated to classify replies into three levels: highly satisfied, satisfied, and dissatisfied. The results show that visitors were rather pleased with Udaipur’s abundant scenic surroundings, rich cultural heritage, and quietude atmosphere, accessibility to lodging, and basic facilities with secure environment. Meanwhile, there was significant discontent with the quality of regional cuisines, the reliability and accessibility of tour and guide services, and the city’s transportation infrastructure and traffic management.
