A Comparison of Occupational Education of Teacher Educators’ Knowledge and Pedagogy
摘要
This chapter further develops the research monograph on the further education (FE) teacher educators (Loo in Professional development of teacher educators in further education: pathways, knowledge, identities, and vocationalism. Routledge, Abingdon, 2020). It uses the empirical evidence from the project of 33 teacher educators in the sector from FE colleges, higher education institutions and private providers. The chapter seeks to discuss the theoretical frameworks/literature sources of teacher educators’ pedagogic (i.e., teaching and learning) activities from the curriculum formation stage to the choice of teaching strategies/approaches. It also compares the types of knowledge and pedagogy of the deliverers in three different teaching settings (i.e., teacher educators working in FE colleges, universities and the private sector) in teacher training/education. The findings will offer the FE community a deep understanding of the commonalities and differences between these three types of educators. This distinct inquiry will provide further scholarly agency to this under-researched topic.
