In this Chapter we discuss the first result which uses the concept of the conformal module of conjugacy classes of braids. The result is due to Gorin and Lin and was motivated by the interest of the authors in Hilbert’s Thirteen’s Problem and treats global reducibility of holomorphic families of polynomials. We give a historical account, and a conceptual alternative proof of a slightly improved version of this result.
