Superconductivity

摘要

There is a very interesting phenomenon that takes place in solid state physics, when certain metals are cooled below the critical temperature of the order of few kelvin. The resistance of these metals completely disappears, and they become superconducting. This phenomenon whereby many materials exhibit complete loss of electrical resistance when cooled below a characteristic critical temperature [1, 2] is called superconductivity. It was discovered in mercury, by Dutch physicist Onnes in 1911.
