Experimental Study on the Rheological Properties of Foamed Bitumen Mastic
摘要
Foamed bitumen has received widespread attention due to its potential to lower production temperatures and the associated environmental and economic benefits. The investigation of the complex mastic formation process and its influence on pavement performance contributes to more effective and sustainable pavement solutions. This chapter presents an experimental study into the rheological properties of foamed bitumen mastic by investigating the complex modulus (G*) and phase angle (δ) at varying filler-foamed bitumen binder (f/b) ratios. The tests were conducted using a Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR). The ongoing research also involves predicting viscoelastic behavior and rutting potential through Multiple stress creep and recovery (MSCR) and G*/sin(δ) parameters at 50 °C. Complex modulus and phase angle master curves showed an improved high-temperature performance due to filler addition. Findings showed that the recovery potential of the binder is minimal. The results also confirm that the foamed bitumen absorbs more filler due to its bubble form, increasing the rutting resistance.
