Study on Improving Performance of Cold Repair Materials for Waterproof Layers Applicable
摘要
In recent years, demand for the efficient maintenance and rehabilitation of pavements has been increasing under severe constraints on public finances. The use of advanced cold repair materials is an effective technique for maintaining and rehabilitating pavements efficiently. The improvement of the durability of these repair materials and their utilization as repair materials for full-scale rehabilitation could contribute to achieving efficient pavement maintenance and management. Focusing on the small-scale rehabilitation of the base layers of bridge deck pavements, the authors have thus developed a repair material for waterproof layers using a chemically cured binder and single-sized crushed stones, and succeeded in achieving the same level of performance as the guss asphalt mixture typically used in the base layers of bridge deck pavements. To further improve the performance of the material to the level of modified guss asphalt mixtures, the authors worked on improving the binder and successfully achieved the same level of performance as that of the modified guss asphalt mixture. The material was confirmed to provide good serviceability in onsite pavement rehabilitation work. In small-scale rehabilitation of the base layers of bridge deck pavements, the material was found to offer better environmental performance and lower material cost than the modified guss asphalt mixture.
