Analysis of the Forced Convection of the Exchanger on the Example of an Induction Unit

Heat exchange is a complex process, conditioned by many factors. Therefore, attempts are made to present heat transfer in the form of simplified relationships. The aim of the study was an experimental analysis of heat transfer during forced convection conditions and a mathematical description of the phenomenon. In order to carry out the experiment, a measuring station was built, the main element of which was an induction unit powered by a chiller. Measurements included the process of heat exchange with the dry surface of the coil and after condensation on its surface. Based on the experimental results, the relationship between the Nusselt number and the Reynolds number was determined for the forced convective heat transfer of a circular cylinder in cross-flow. The comparison of the obtained results with the commonly used dependencies from the literature showed a high similarity in the course of the function. The tests also determined the value of the CF (Contact Factor) as a function of the frontal velocity of the air flowing into the tested heat exchanger.
