Introduction

The introduction addresses the specific challenges involved in analyzing Vikram Seth’s work, and the critical methodology I use in this study. I relate the biographical elements pertinent to the trajectory of Seth’s writing, and provide a survey of all of his publications to date, relating in the process his formative influences. This survey allows me to bring to light a web of connections within an extraordinarily diverse corpus.
