A Comparison Between Results from Squeeze Flow Tests of Fumed Silica Shear Thickening Suspensions
摘要
Most of the times, shear thickening (ST) fluids show their featured properties when simultaneously squeeze and shear. In this work, we are interested in the study of the reproducibility of results obtained with different experimental configurations of squeeze tests. Squeeze flow of ST fumed silica suspensions was tested with plate-plate geometry using a controlled-stress rheometer. A comparison of the results obtained when the normal force or the squeeze velocity were monitored, and when the volume or the area in contact with the moving plate was maintained constant was conducted. Reproducible results were obtained when the squeeze velocity was controlled.
