The Author as Curator: A Procedure for Thinking about Some Current Brazilian Productions
摘要
The main objective of this essay is to investigate the possibility that curatorial practice, increasingly prominent in the plastic arts milieu, may serve as a theoretical operator for considering procedures of narrative creation that affect our modern idea of literature in the present day. Taking as my object of study two works recently produced in Brazil, the principal premise of my argument is that curatorial logic extended to literature is a creative procedure that enables us to identify a series of transformations that we experience in the artistic and literary field in the present day: the question of creativity, of authorial originality, the valorisation of the unfinished work, the primacy of process over finished product and the importance of the reader in creating meaning.
