Brazilian Rocky Shores: Perspectives for Future Research, Management, and Conservation
摘要
The aim of this book is to provide an overview of the current knowledge about rocky shores along the Brazilian coast to the national and international community. More than just a scientific review of published articles, this book encompasses the accumulated knowledge of researchers working in this environment. It aims to offer a synthesis that also benefits the training of human resources in undergraduate and graduate programs and other sectors of society interested in the topic. This book focused on consolidated substrates in the intertidal zones and shallow sublittoral areas, with coral reefs addressed in a separate volume. To achieve our goal, the current knowledge presented in Chaps. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 has been compiled by researchers from different fields of study in rocky shore research, from various institutions along the coast and at different stages of their careers, thus broadening the diversity of perspectives and expertise on the topics. In this chapter, we provide an integrative overview of Chaps. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 offering insight into the overall narrative of this book and addressing questions regarding knowledge gaps and future steps for research on Brazilian rocky shores. We conclude discussing the usage of this knowledge and the processes of management and conservation.
