A Fuzzy DEMATEL Approach for Exploring Barriers to the Successful Implementation of Maintenance 5.0 in the Manufacturing Industry

As a result of technology advancement, maintenance management systems have been significantly improved, reaching what is called maintenance 5.0, that increases the availability and the performance of the equipment. Maintenance 5.0 leads to satisfy maintenance requirements in terms of sustainability, human interaction and resilience. However, the implementation of this maintenance system faces multiple barriers to achieve desired results. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to explore maintenance 5.0 implementation barriers. It aims to assess and analyze the relationship between relevant maintenance 5.0 barriers that hinder the execution of maintenance 5.0 by applying fuzzy DEMATEL method. Furthermore, the objective is to determine the influential and influenced barriers. To the best of our knowledge, this study is one of the first to study the barriers of maintenance 5.0 implementation in manufacturing industry. It is useful for both academics and practitioners. The findings may assist managers in prioritizing the key barriers that must be overcome to successfully implement maintenance 5.0.
