Solving Assignment Problems Involving the Level ( \(s_{ lower}\) , \(s^{upper} )\) – Interval Valued Pentagonal Fuzzy Numbers: Signed Distance Ranking Approach

In all domains, including research, engineering, and management, decision makers encounter incomplete and imprecise data. Many real-life scenarios with ambiguous information are challenging to deal with using existing conventional methods. These problems are efficiently handled by employing fuzzy numbers, interval valued fuzzy numbers, neutrosophic fuzzy numbers, and so on; the appropriate model is applied based on the situation. This article deals with the situation where the vague information is represented as ( \({s}_{ lower}\) , \({s}^{upper})\) - Interval valued pentagonal fuzzy numbers. The main objective of this article is solving the fuzzy assignment problem whose costs are represented by ( \({s}_{ lower}\) , \({s}^{upper})\) - Interval valued pentagonal fuzzy numbers, by using signed distance ranking technique.
