Conclusion: Towards Inclusive Higher Education
摘要
The volume has brought together a diverse collection of critical thought, reflection, and empirical evidence to consider the topic of inclusive adult education in a higher educational setting within the UK. Whilst the chapters highlight the individuality of adult learners’ experiences, they also identify a unifying feature that impacts on adult learners personally and collectively—the need for a more inclusive higher education environment that embraces diversity and provides access and opportunity to all. This conclusion considers three interlinked themes: the challenges faced by those advocating for change to create an inclusive space for adult learners within higher education; the opportunities that will open up for adult learners if these challenges are addressed; and how those who are advocating for change within and outside the higher education environment might engage with universities to develop future policy and practice. This chapter concludes by presenting the challenges, opportunities, and how to engage higher education in creating an inclusive education environment for adult learners in the UK.
