Suroy-Suroy: An Immersive Virtual Reality Therapy Game for Persons Living with Dementia in the Philippines
摘要
To aid in the need for alternative and non-pharmacological interventions for managing behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), previous studies explored the utilization of immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR). As part of these ongoing efforts, the researchers iteratively developed a VR game application in collaboration with Philippine healthcare professionals and scientists representing different fields of interest. This paper built upon previous works by further refining novel concepts and VR features for potential clinical evaluation. Additionally, this paper also provided comprehensive discussions on these concepts and techniques tailored for individuals living with dementia in the Philippines. These discussions could serve as a robust foundation for future development and overall adoption of VR -based interventions in this context. With the versatility of VR and its rapidly increasing features, older persons could benefit from this emerging technology.
