Conclusions and Cliffhangers

This concluding chapter draws parallels between the case studies across the book and argues that the approaches to writing and producing Danish live action film and television for children and young audiences in the early 2020s were marked by many continuities, but also three major changes. These changes are presented as 1) a remarkable audience exploration turn; 2) a new focus on knowledge-sharing and educational initiatives; and 3) a move towards inquiry-driven and co-creative screenwriting, referring to screenwriting based on having on-going dialogues with and input on/from the young audiences. After discussing these overall changes in more detail, the chapter ends by suggesting how the coming years will likely be marked by more hybridisation and DIY productions by children and young audiences.
