Treatment of Substance Use Disorders in Post-ICU Settings

This chapter provides an outline of substance use disorder evaluations, focusing on withdrawal identification and management after acute stabilization, along with treatment interventions for multiple substance subtypes, including alcohol, cannabis, hallucinogens, opioids, sedatives/hypnotics/anxiolytics, stimulants, and tobacco. The chapter identifies both pharmacological and therapeutic interventions to assist in substance use disorder treatment and relapse prevention within the medical inpatient and outpatient setting.
