Open Source and Portable Educational Kits for Enabling Robotics Education

This paper discusses the development and piloting of OPEN-TeaLeaF educational kits, centered on the Robotont mobile robot platform, and their associated teacher training program in Austria and Estonia. The blended training, comprising online modules and hands-on workshops, was evaluated with 37 teachers. Feedback highlighted the kits’ practical utility in STEAM education but indicated a need for simpler setup procedures, better safety features, and more intuitive learning materials. This study emphasizes the importance of accessible, hands-on robotics education and provides insights for improving teacher training in this rapidly evolving field.
