Continuing Professional Development: A Learning Journey for Lifelong Learners
摘要
The teaching profession faces unprecedented challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, artificial intelligence, and various environmental threats. This chapter argues that meeting the local and global challenges that we face requires a fundamental shift in education that starts with Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Traditional educational models, with their roots in an Industrial Age where standardization and compliance dominate, are insufficient for preparing students for future uncertainties. Instead, educators should embrace a mindset of continuous learning, selective forgetting, and educational reimagining. Savvy educators are perpetual learners, akin to Odysseus on an extended journey of both survival and self-improvement. By applying Nudge Theory to CPD, schools and their leaders can advance a culture of ongoing professional growth, all in service of supporting student success in a rapidly changing world.
