From Collective Reflexivity to Personal Responsibility: Making Sense of Community Critiques About ‘Kurdish Power’ Research

  • Canan Coşkan

摘要

In this chapter, I describe my experience of participatory research as of taking back the findings of a previous research on understandings of ‘Kurdish Power’ to Kurdish communities in Western Turkey and Bakurê Kurdistan. Drawing on anticolonial, liberation and critical race approaches, I explain why and how we conducted this participatory research. I focus on our collaborative discussions, community realities, collective resistance imaginations, individual positionalities within Kurdishness and future anticipations by critically reflecting on my hopes and my worries. I further discuss a situated perspective on contextualizing decolonial and critical race approaches in community psychology research praxis from below and at the theoretical and geographical margins.
