Scars of Resistance: Battling Through the Pain, Bearing the Bruises

  • Hana R. Masud

摘要

This chapter offers a disruptive text that makes its contribution through radical affect as a form of resistance, refusal, and reclaiming self-determination. In this chapter the author engages in a storytelling praxis to investigate mainstream white activism, and its lasting impact on indigenous and colonized people’s movements, by perpetuating harm, and overlooking voices of decolonial activists. This manifests in “false generosity”, lack of authentic solidarity, and failure to address the genocidal colonial attitudes in the critical community psychology field. The narratives delves into case studies of failed genuine allyship that supports rather than overshadows decolonial voices. By the end of this chapter, students will understand the critical distinction between decolonial activism and mainstream white activism and gain insights into the broader implications of these concepts to decolonizing critical community psychology for achieving transformative justice and dismantling systematic oppression.
