Guns, Trauma, and Public Space Events

There are a multiplicity of ways to think about the consequences of gun violence. Yes, death is the ultimate consequence. However, not all gun violence results in death. Rather, various forms of trauma will result, which is often ignored with a focus on physical consequences. When gun violence occurs in public spaces and events, its consequences are even more far-reaching by undermining free movement within a community’s public spaces, severely compromising key elements essential in creating safety expectations critical to a community’s well-being.
