Urban Public Spaces, Part 2: Multiple Dimensions
摘要
A public space lens provides academics and practitioners with an approach to not only understand gun violence but also how best to craft an intervention. Ten dimensions are covered to operationalize an urban public space concept for the purposes of shaping gun interventions: (1) Space and Place: A Short Note; (2) COVID-19 & Public Spaces; (3) Urban Safe Spaces; (4) Urban Public Spaces as Sanctuaries; (5) Merging Public Spaces and Events; (6) Social Media as Public Space; (7) Gun Violence & Public Spaces; (8) Shifting Scene on Urban Public Spaces and Mourning; (9) Public Spaces and Event Climate; and (10) Solemn and Festive Event Shootings. Each of these perspectives is discussed regarding their benefits and limitations for shaping community-based interventions.
