The Road Towards 2022: The Threat to Democracy and the Uses and Abuses of Digital Technologies
摘要
This introductory chapter analyzes the relevance of the impacts of digital technologies in electoral processes. It argues that the case of the Brazilian 2022 general elections offers important lessons regarding the potential threats presented by digital media uses to electoral integrity, as well as how to overcome them. Additionally, it argues that key democratic challenges derive from the roles played by digital platform companies themselves, regardless of users.
