Cities Maturity Model: A Case Study for Emerging Cities
摘要
The urbanization process took place in the 18th century, mainly due to the Industrial Revolution, consecutively attracting more and more people to cities in search of jobs and better living conditions. Given this aspect, the urbanization process was increasingly consolidated, as the population needed to live close to industries and manufacturers to move to their daily work. However, this process of accelerated urbanization resulted from numerous problems, and reflexes until the present moment. The UN (United Nations) in turn created 17 SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals, which constitute a set of 169 global goals, with a pact to improve the quality of life of the world’s population and improve the urbanization of cities around the world with a commitment signed until the year 2030. Therefore, this study broadly addresses the contextualization of development on the maturity models of the cities that currently make up the BRCIS (Brazil, Russia, China, India, and South Africa) being a block that makes up countries in ascension/developing, very important for the world ecosystem in many aspects. In this way, the current article aims to carry out a bibliographical/historical survey of existing models of city maturity. Thus demonstrating the progress of different models of maturity of cities, which can be compared, replicated, and adapted efficiently to minimize and solve similar problems in other cities in the world.
