In Vitro Antibacterial Effect of Ozonated Solutions on Enterococcus faecalis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa

The purpose of this research was to evaluate the in vitro antibacterial effect of ozonized solutions on Enterococcus faecalis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa combined with camphorated paramonochlorophenol and iodoform. The research had a quantitative approach, it was prospective and longitudinal with a comparative quasi-experimental design, and the study units were 96 specimens; To verify the hypothesis, the ANOVA test and Tukey’s post hoc test were used with a confidence level of 95%. Results: the groups receiving treatment with ozonated propylene glycol added with camphorated paramonochlorophenol obtained the highest means in the bacterial inhibition zone 14.18 ± 0.18 mm (Enterococcus faecalis) and 13.79 ± 0.40 mm (Pseudomonas aeruginosa); followed by the groups receiving ozonated propylene glycol only 13.70 ± 0.25 mm (Enterococcus faecalis) and 13.05 ± 0.18 mm (Pseudomonas aeruginosa); The 4 solutions studied showed a statistically significant greater antibacterial effect on Enterococcus faecalis (p < 0.001); and Enterococcus faecalis (p < 0.001). Conclusion: ozonized solutions based on ozonized propylene glycol added with camphorated paramonoclophenol had greater antibacterial action on the bacteria Enterococcus faecalis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
