The Found Archive of Hani Jawherieh
摘要
In November 2019, in LondonLondon’s Gallery P21Gallery P21, I staged an exhibition of Palestinian visual remains of plundervisual remains of plunder entitled, The Found Archives of Hani JawheriehJawherieh, Hani: The Art of Accessing Forbidden Archives. The material explored in the exhibition consisted of the few items which Hind, widow of the late Palestinian photographer and cinematographer Hani JawheriehJawherieh, Hani, had managed to salvage from their home during the Israeli invasioninvasion of LebanonLebanon in 1982. In this chapter, I explore the use of the exhibition space as a place in which to experiment with photos, films and media equipment that have emerged out of colonial violence. I also look at the role of the salvager, Hind Jawherieh, in affecting how an artistic narrative can be told today.
