Hands on Visual Remains

In order to understand the effect of plunderplunder on photos, films and media equipment, to comprehend the present nature of these objects after they emerge from the violence, and most importantly, to assess how the violence changes and alters the ability of Palestinian society and its members to relate to their own past imagery, it is necessary, I argue, to engage with these objects not merely as found images and media equipment, but as remains of a violent crime. In this chapter, I look at how visual remains of plundervisual remains of plunder can be explored using the Hands on Visual RemainsHands on Visual Remains methodology, which was developed in this work specifically to explore remains of plunderremains of plunder.
