Can the past be rectified, at least cinematically? In A Remake of a Revolutionary Film (2019), an attempt is made to reconstruct the past life of Palestinian photographer and cinematographer Hani JawheriehJawherieh, Hani and to retell the last moments prior to his death, which were previously featured in Palestine in the Eye (1976). Using Hani JawheriehJawherieh, Hani’s personal photo albumphoto album along with a text written by his life-long friend Vladimir TamariTamari, Vladimir, Jawherieh emerges as someone who sought an imaginary safe space in which the dispossessed could finally dwell.
