From Passion to Expertise

This chapter focuses on expertise and how we become experts. We present the model we have developed through interviews with 23 experts and in-depth analyses of the famous writer Hans Christian Andersen, the world’s most known scientist Charles Darwin, and an excellent football player Zlatan Ibrahimović. The model “To become experts” includes five factors of great importance. These factors are training with focus/deliberate practice, passion for achievement, grit/perseverance, mindset/growth mindset, and follow-up/mentor. However, it is possible to argue that passion is the most important factor. It gives the direction of the arrow toward an area/skill/theme. This chapter discusses these important factors.
