摘要

There are several behavior analytic strategies one can use to teach new skills. Clinicians working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) must select and combine elements of behavioral intervention to develop effective programming for their clients. The appropriateness of instructional strategies depends on the skill being taught and the learner's current repertoire. In this chapter, we first describe the basic elements that are the foundation of all skill acquisition programs. Next, we review commonly used teaching procedures and strategies to promote generalization and maintenance that can be incorporated into a learner's skill acquisition program.
