Monte Carlo Simulation of a Modified Elekta Precise Linear Accelerator Used for Flash Radiotherapy Using TOPAS (TOol for PArticle Simulation)
摘要
In radiotherapy, some radiation dose is still deposited in healthy tissues, which requires by introducing new treatment modalities that are both more efficient and that also reduce the secondary effects on healthy tissues. Among these modalities we find the electron flash radiotherapy. However the dose that will be deposited on the patient’s body must be evaluated before application. The goal of this work is to simulate the electron flash radiotherapy procedure using a modified LINAC “Elekta Precise” To investigate the effectiveness of the TOPAS Monte Carlo code in simulating the dose distribution produced by flash electron beams. Experimental dose profiles were measured using a Gafchromic Film. To assess the accuracy of the simulations, we applied the gamma index formalism with a (2%/2 mm) criterion and also conducted a comparison between beam parameters.
