The main aim in this book was to work as a political sociologistpolitical sociologist in order to explore the reasons why the Kurdistan Regional GovernmentKurdistan Regional Government (KRG) (KRG) lost its strength internally by losing trustlosing trust from its own people in the governing systemgoverning system within the region and its power towards the central governmentcentral government in BaghdadBaghdad in political, economic and military terms, particularly after the independence referendumindependence referendum. These failures can be seen as lessonslessons that the KRG can learn from by focusing on its policies between post-2003post-2003 Iraqpost-2003 Iraq and the independence referendumreferendum that took place in 2017. The book asks why Kurdish ruling leadersKurdish ruling leaders and political partiespolitical party seem to be acting in self-defeatingself-defeating ways yet still managing to maintain their positions in the system and stay in powerstay in power.
