Strategic Integration of Industry 5.0 Assistive Technologies for Cognition in Business for Human Capital Development

The study sheds light on the implementation of a specialized yet promising category of technology solutions into business models, aiming to support human cognitive functions, fostering both inclusivity and optimal mental performance for neurotypical individuals. The purpose of the article is to study the latest trends in Industry 5.0-related digital assistive technologies for cognition (ATC) and develop a strategic integration roadmap that combines several models. The roadmap includes a range of options, from incremental improvements in product, service or business process functionality to comprehensive lifecycle management to improve customer value. Methods include a systematic literature review and analysis of patent activity in the field of cognition assistance based on PATENTSCOPE data from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Through keyword analysis, the study identified over 43,000 patents worldwide registered between 2013 and 2022. The patents were analyzed, highlighting key technologies of significant commercial relevance. Subsequently, the authors propose a framework for strategic integration of digital cognition assistance across diverse models. It is shown that cognition assistance is a growing technological and investment trend; the share of related patents in the portfolios of leading manufacturers increased from 0.19% to 2.44% over the period under review.
