EIA Procedure—Mitigation and Impact Management

  • Rachna Bhateria

摘要

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a procedure designed to recognize, forecast, and assess the possible environmental effects of a planned development project, and suggest actions to prevent, reduce, or alleviate those effects. Mitigation and impact management are essential aspects of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process aimed at minimizing the adverse effects of a project on the environment. Mitigation involves actions aimed at decreasing or eradicating the adverse effects of a project on the environment. Mitigation methods may involve altering project design or operation, utilizing alternative technologies or materials, and applying best management practices. The purpose of mitigation is to lessen the overall effect of a project on the environment, or to completely remove substantial negative impacts.
