Targeted ventilator management reduces the risk of secondary brain injury in patients with acute neurologic injuries. Many neurologic emergencies compromise airway patency and cause inadequate oxygenation and ventilation. Precise clinical management of airway, oxygenation, and ventilation is vital to successfully resuscitating critically ill neurologic patients.
