Uterine Surgery for Infertility
摘要
As delayed childbearing becomes more prevalent, there is greater need for both fertility-sparing and fertility-enhancing surgeries. Such surgeries improve reproductive potential while providing necessary symptomatic relief. Patients should be counseled regarding risks, benefits, and realistic expectations of surgery. The main philosophy of reproductive surgery includes organ sparing, specifically uterine, ovarian, and tube-sparing surgeries. Any pathology that hinders pregnancy and requires a surgical management strategy is best addressed by reproductive surgeons–physicians with training in both reproductive medicine and advanced pelvic surgery. Reproductive surgery spans from laparotomy to laparoscopic/robotic procedures to microsurgery and includes advanced hysteroscopic procedures. While reproductive surgeons perform many different types of surgery through multiple surgical routes, a few key complications are more common than others. This chapter aims to cover these frequently seen complications after reproductive surgeries. After highlighting the background, prevention, recognition, and management of these complications are described.
