With improved surgical methods and expanded experience, pelvic sidewall involvement is no longer the absolute contraindication for surgical resection it once was. However, the complication rate is high. The need for a multispecialty surgical team and expert knowledge of the surgical anatomy as well as an understanding of potential complications and management of such complications are pre-requisites for any surgeon performing these complex operations.
