The Technology 4.0 as a Factor of Change in the World Order

Technology has played a pivotal role in the exercise of power by international powers within the global system. Its development and production are key elements enabling states with hegemonic aspirations to influence the world and promote their vision of international society. The current Technological Revolution 4.0 shares similarities with previous revolutions but also presents peculiarities that render its impact on the global order unpredictable. The purpose of this chapter is to investigate to what extent the 4.0 Revolution could precipitate changes in the foundational aspects of the international order. We analyse the relationship between technology and World Order change and the relevance of technology in changing values in international society.
