A Novel Method for Generating 3D Mesh at Contact Points in Packed Beds

Meshing contact points within packed beds poses a significant challenge. This study introduces a novel approach, named HybridBridge, which combines the advantages of various local methods for modifying contact points to address this challenge. The innovative approach is examined using a unit cell, investigating its impact on effective thermal conductivity and mesh properties. A comparative analysis with the conventional bridge method is conducted. Through geometry adjustments, it is demonstrated that the new approach is suitable for realistic simulations, ensuring an accurate representation of effective thermal conductivity. Finally, the study validates the transferability of results and the applicability of the HybridBridge method to packed beds.
