Commentary: The Application of Attachment Theory for a More Emotionally and Socially Informed Archaeology

In this commentary, Siân Halcrow brings together the chapters within this volume to consider varied applications of attachment approaches within archaeology. Despite the relative lack of emphasis on the archaeology of emotion in the past, this is central to human behaviour and therefore an understanding of all aspects of society in the past. Focusing on bioarchaeology, she considers the broader applications of an archaeology of care and attachment approach including care relationships and implications on health, and engagement with topical matters of social justice today.
