Transport of Liquid Substances by Pipeline Systems
摘要
In ancient times, the problem of transporting liquids, mainly water, was solved mainly by carrying containers (e.g., vessels or barrels) on carts and animal backs. However, the use of open channels and pressure conduits for the transport of vital liquids dates back a long time and there are plenty of historical examples showing the developments of Egyptian and Roman engineers, basically applying the effects of the force of gravity to enable the flow between two points (Mohitpour et al. 2007).
