Some Observations on Social Work Practice Education in Turkey: Changes in the Rules of the Game and the Pandemic and the Maraş Earthquakes as Their Cornerstones

  • Gökçesu Akşit Dudaklı

摘要

With the COVID-19 restrictions starting from the beginning of 2020, many schools of social work across Europe have been forced to pause their normal practice education and search for alternative online or outdoor solutions that could simulate social work practice in its normal sense. Various authorities have played an active role in formulating these new solutions to address and determine the restrictions. In this chapter, the formulation of the rules of social work practice in Turkey will be reflected as “rules of the game” from a historical perspective. In this context, the pandemic is regarded as a cornerstone of the changes and continuities shaping the rules. The analysis also includes the reactions to the devastating earthquakes in Maraş province, affecting more than 15 million people in February 2023.
