Ammonia as Green H2 Carrier
摘要
Ammonia (NH3) holds promise for decarbonization of both energy and industrial sectors. Thanks to its high H2 density, it is also a good candidate as H2 carrier. A techno-economic assessment is conducted on the liquefied ammonia value chain, which includes ammonia synthesis, storage, maritime transport, distribution, ammonia cracking and compression. Liquefied NH3 is transported at −30 °C and atmospheric pressure. The cost-drivers of the value chain are the ammonia synthesis and cracking processes. Therefore, these processes are simulated using Aspen Plus V11® process simulator, in order to estimate their capital and operating expenditures from the obtained material and energy balances.
