摘要

This chapter addresses the prevalent issue of physical and functional dysfunction among critically ill patients, particularly exacerbated by long-term mechanical ventilation, ICU therapies, and extended bed immobilization. ICU-acquired weakness (ICUAW) is characterized by neuromuscular dysfunction resulting from critical illness, often impacting respiratory and limb muscles. However, information regarding rehabilitation and physical function after ICUAW remains limited and of low quality. The primary objective of this chapter is to explore significant advancements in assessing physical function and recovery among critically ill patients affected by ICUAW.
