Military Civilian Partnership at the University of Chicago Trauma Center

Improvements in trauma care have always come from those taking care of a high volume of violence whether that occurred in the military or civilian sector. Historically there has been shared knowledge gained from the collaboration between military and civilian trauma care. The recently passed Mission Zero Act included in the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Advancing Innovation Act of 2019 now mandates this collaboration. The Army Medical Department Military Civilian Trauma Team Training (AMCT3) program established partnerships with several academic civilian level 1 trauma centers to act upon this mandate. The University of Chicago was chosen as one of these collaborative sites. The integration of military and civilian care through this program has been beneficial to both the military and University as well as to the communities they serve.
