Prologue: A Journey of Cultural Transformation

As we embarked on our journey of standing up an adult Level 1 Trauma Center at the University of Chicago Medicine, we knew our work would extend well beyond the clinical care that we provided to the traumatically injured patient. We would have to be thought leaders and revolutionaries who challenged the existing status quo of an institution that had turned away from the community for almost three decades.
