Some current medications can be financially burdensome, have unwanted side effects, or have a treatment schedule that can be difficult for some patients to maintain. This chapter will focus on the specific biomarkers involved in acne vulgarisAcne vulgaris and rosacea which could potentially expand our current understanding and methodology in diagnosisDiagnosis, prognosis, and managing treatment for patients with these skin disorders. A literature review was conducted of ten biomarkers using the classification standards from the World Health Organization. These ten biomarkersBiomarkers were selected based on their involvement in the pathogenesis of AV or rosacea, as well as their current usage as treatment targetsTreatment targets for other dermatological conditions.
