The wound healing process is a physiologic immune response to tissueTissue insult. However, the cellular and molecular mechanisms that contribute to this response are still not completely understood, and there exists many opportunities for this physiologic response to become pathologic resulting in the formation of scars or ulcers. Developing new and effective biomarkers is a key to helping our patientswith this painful and often recalcitrant problem.
